The Animas Award refers to Don Bosco’s motto in Latin “Da Mihi Animas” which is “Give Me Souls.” You’ll find the motto on our coat of arms emblazoned on the wall at the entrance to the shrine. Our honorees for 2023 are people who exemplify that motto in their daily lives. Kevin Lynch, Jeannie Nicolakis and Howard Phillips give of themselves for the souls of the young, the poor and the community by generously sharing their gifts, talents, spirit, and joy, even when it’s tough to do so. We proudly recognize their efforts and hope that others will follow their wonderful example.
We invite you to support this gala celebration on May 3, 2023 at 6:00 P.M. The proceeds of this event will support the work of the Salesians of Don Bosco at the Marian Shrine, celebrating our 75th anniversary. Ticket information and how to place an ad in our program is enclosed.

The annual Marian Shrine Golf Outing has been replaced with a new event. The Marian Shrine Spring Gala and Animas Awards honors leaders and organizations who have extended themselves in service to the young, the poor, and the needs of the community. Their efforts are in line with the vision and spirit of St. John Bosco, our founder, who encouraged his Salesians to use their gifts and talents to improve the lives of young people.
