Day Visits and Pilgrimages

Many find the peaceful park-like atmosphere and devotional areas of the Marian Shrine conducive for a leisurely walk, reflection, and private prayer.  Dozens can be found walking the property, rosary in hand or simply enjoying the sounds of nature.  One lap around the property from the Shrine Chapel parking lot to the upper sport field parking lot and back equals one mile!

We ask that visitors in groups of 15 or more complete the Planner Form or contact the administrator at 845-947-2200 ext. 313.  Groups can arrange a special schedule which may include a Mass, Adoration, Confessions, and Rosary. The regular Shrine schedule for Mass and Confessions can accommodate groups as well.

If a group plans to spend the day they must bring their own food and refreshments. There are a number of picnic areas on the grounds and or for larger groups a rentl of the pavilion might be more practical.

Annual pilgrimages are scheduled to the Shrine in honor of Mary under anyone of her numerous titles and cultural roots. The Shrine has welcomed pilgrimages of groups from 25 to 5,000.  Diocesan and religious organizations find the Marian Shrine “Holy Ground” for special processions, Rosary rallies, religious services, conferences, and worship concerts.  Pilgrim groups often bring their own priest and/or religious from their own parishes or associations to assist with religious services, especially if there is a need in another language. The community of Salesian priests and brothers are ready to offer hospitality and meet requests to lead a religious service, hear confessions, and/or be available for blessings.
